La Turbie

This medieval village is famous for its monumental "Trophée d'Auguste", it is nestled above the Principality of Monaco, between Nice and Menton. Everything is in this pretty village will seduce you: panoramas, historical heritage, many hiking trails and the Natural Park of the Grande Corniche. From the eleventh century, the Trophy is transformed into a fortress, the village and its inhabitants are at the center of the conflicts that take place in the region.

The fortress of La Turbie was finally mined by order of Louis XIV in 1705, and the Trophy largely destroyed. La Turbie is definitely attached to France in 1860. At the end of the 19th century, the Turbiasques saw the arrival of the first tourists of the "Belle Epoque" and several famous people stayed in the village.

It was in 1904, then in 1908, that two of the districts of La Turbie obtained their independence and the new towns of Beausoleil and Cap d'Ail were created.

The Trophy, after being classified as a Historic Monument in 1865, is finally restored in 1909. The village, released on September 2, 1944, begins to revive and undertakes great changes that transform it and give it the charm and authenticity that we recognize him today.
